Topics covered will range from AI, crypto, biotech, nanotech and brain-computer interfacing to consciousness, quantum computing, radical physics, psychedelics, and parapsychology — focusing on the edge of the edge.

The Mindplex editorial team is led by noted AI scientist Ben Goertzel, PhD; Editor-in-Chief; Senior Editor Amara Angelica, who edited KurzweilAI.net for 18 years and helped Ray Kurzweil create The Singularity Is Near and other works; Associate Editor/Podcast Producer/Co-host Lisa Rein, freelance journalist for more than 25 years, musician, filmmaker, VR developer, and Co-Founder of Creative Commons and Aaron Swartz Day; and Conor O’Higgins, Managing Editor, who has been involved in the media side of the blockchain industry since 2016, and has led media campaigns for several top-100 cryptocurrencies.

While Mindplex is currently managed by editors, it intends to become a fully decentralized media platform in the future. However, Mindplex will stand as a neutral platform. This means there will be an objective method of evaluating content submission from our contributors,  who will be empowered to publish any well-researched, unbiased content regardless of our different views.

Mindplex is also an AI-meets-blockchain platform for experimenting with new tools that decentralize and democratize benevolent AI and AGI (artificial general intelligence).

These tools include:

Content Factory — a reputation-based (based on reader interactions) matchmaking engine that allows Mindplex community members to build their network and control the flow of content in a decentralized and democratic manner. Click here for more detail. 

Reputation Engine, a complex-systems-theory-based reputation system for rewarding content creators and content consumers,  using merit-based interaction with content.

AI-based experiments 

• Interactive and collaborative content-creation tool— focused initially on creating interactive science-fiction that explores the potential implications and uses of AI in ranking, curating, and merging alternative storylines. For example, if ten people worked on a book that has ten chapters, and if each of these ten people wrote ten different chapters, there are 3,628,800 possible outputs as fully developed books.
• AI-generated memes and comics.
• Collaboration with SophiaDAO, another amazing SingularityNET ecosystem project, on immersive virtual-world scenarios related to Mindplex content.
• Leveraging TWIN Protocol technology, allowing users to create their own digital twins and allow others to experience their twins’ reactions to Mindplex content.

“Mindplex” is a term Dr. Ben Goertzel originally introduced in 2003 to designate a mind that’s more unified than human society, but less unified than an individual human mind. “Mindplex”  was later expanded in a paper on non-ordinary states of consciousness — including states where multiple people feel fused into a sort of mutually experiencing whole.

Mindplex is currently free. You can access all contents — no account required. If you choose to create an account, you will be able to interact with content and content creators and start building your reputation. When we introduce premium features, we’ll keep you advised.

Mindplex does not track you. But we do measure and record behaviors on our website to enable use in our reputation system. (How we measure reputation on Mindplex and other websites that use our reputation engine is explained in detail here.) We do not reward reputation points based on who you are, we reward you based on what you do!

To achieve  that, our reputation system observes some parameters (behaviors) during user’s interaction with content/other users/content creators. For example your association determines your bias! Most people give the ‘thumbs up’ interaction and share a content if it is published by someone they follow (if I like your posts, you will like mine! If I share your posts regardless of their merit, you will start following me or add me as your friend regardless of my merit). 

We also track  personal and environmental polarity. 

Personal polarity: some people are  optimists, so when they interact, they always give positive feedback (such as a thumbs-up emoticon and “great\'\' in their comment). On the other hand, some people are  pessimists, so  when they interact they give negative feedback (such as a thumbs-down emoticon and “awful\'\' in their comment). 

Environmental polarity: some people, to protect their group, will not play fair. Such people will give an exaggerated negative feedback to any content if it criticizes or argues against their group\'s beliefs. Even if they are consuming a well constructed, logically valid, and aesthetically pleasing content, they will never give a positive feedback. 

Mindplex cannot be a merit-based decentralized platform if its AI-enhanced tools ignore such biases. So how do we track such behavior — without tracking your identity? Simple, via your interaction on our platform. But once you leave our site, we do not follow you; no cookies, or any known tracking system. We respect your privacy!

While it’s not required, we invite you to participate in our reputation system,  which uses a token (MPXR). Your MPXR token is the key to our Reputation system. In the absence of MPXR, your interactions will not be measured and calculated. You will not be able to participate in our governance portal. You will not be able to access our content factory, or participate in the content request, job clamming, voting, and other activities.

You can only connect one wallet to access our reputation engine. You can do that from your profile page. Once you connect, the prompt will disappear, and you can forget it. (Don’t worry, you can even forget your wallet and you won’t lose your MPXR tokens; they are non transferable so they will always stay alive on our Reputation Escrow.)

In cases where you want to use our liquid and transferable token (MPX), you can connect your wallet from your profile page, which will enable you to withdraw and deposit MPX from and to our MPX escrow. For these, you can use multiple wallets or the same wallet you have used for MPXR.  But don’t put all your eggs in one wallet  … er, basket. :)

Deleting your account is easy. It’s a one-step move  that you can access from your profile page. We have no deactivation or hibernation period. 

Note: If you delete it, it means everything is gone forever! So please make sure to withdraw any MPX token you have on our MPX escrow before deleting your account. As stated above, since MPXR is a non-liquid and non-transferable token, all of your MPXR tokens will be burnt. 

However, any content you publish will remain live on our website and will be displayed under your name — yep the contents are forever. Any comments you posted will also remain but those will be displayed under “deleted account”.

Membership in Mindplex is simple :

1. Create an account on Mindplex and connect your wallet with our reputation system.
2. Own, at least, one MPX token.

Decision-making in Mindplex will transition in phases to a democratic governance as the network matures. In the near future, we will provide details  on starting dates and phases.

Members (users who have an active account on Mindplex and hold an MPX token) will have a say in some decision making processes, even in the early stage. 

Here are the transition phases:

Phase 1 (following the initial token generation event)

• Major changes are to be determined by Mindplex Media Management
  
• Minor changes will be determined by vote of a 51% majority of Mindplex Members

Phase 2 (after the beta version is live)

• Major changes in Mindplex operations: agreement of the Mindplex Media Management plus a 51% majority of Mindplex Members\' votes
• Minor changes in Mindplex operations: a 51% majority of Mindplex Members votes

Phase 3 (after version 2.0)

• Major changes in Mindplex operations: a 65% supermajority of Mindplex Members votes
• Minor changes in Mindplex operations: a 51% majority of Mindplex Members votes

Phase 4 and onwards, full DAO (distributed autonomous organization).

Most of Mindplex’s operation require one of the followings:

• A liquid and transferable (tradable) utility token (MPX), which is used to incentivize content creators and content consumers.
• A non-liquid and non-transferable reputation token (MPXR), which is used as the on-chain version of users’ reputation score.

The liquid MPX token can be purchased with other currencies on the open market. It is used in membership and governance of the Mindplex Network, as described here.

The non-liquid MPXR Token can only be obtained by interacting with the platform. It’s your reputation and is non-transferable; it will stay on the Mindplex Reputation Escrow. It is used in membership, and the content factory voting process. It is also a trans- platform token that can be shared on other platforms that use our reputation engine. See more here. 

This is our liquid token. You can buy and sell it. You can use it to request content, and it is one of the mandatory tokens to become a Member with access to governance voting. The total supply of MPX is one billion. In the early days of Mindplex, it will be released on Ethereum as a Matick (polygon) token. However, once Cardano becomes an efficient, fluid, and reliable smart-contract platform, MPX will move from the Ethereum to Cardano blockchain.

MPX has a governance functionality: it is used in governance voting on proposals for or against. In addition, you can transfer it temporarily and delegate your MPX to other users who can vote on your behalf. Please see more here. 

Note: Please protect yourself from crypto currency scams! Our admins will never ask you, and never need the PRIVATE KEY of your wallet! Do not reply to such messages and keep your wallet keys private. Furthermore, please report such incidents via email (info@mindlex.ai). Neither Mindplex nor any of its affiliates in our Ecosystem will EVER ask you for MPX tokens, wallet keys, or to connect your wallet to any other third party websites. Scammers can impersonate the Mindplex admins or team members. NEVER perform these actions, even if it is requested of you by someone that has our name and likeness! Make sure you are following one or more of Mindplex’s official social media outlets (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIN, Youtube, and Telegram).

This is our non-liquid token. It is non-transferable! This represents the value of your reputation. The MPXR token is used as a key; without it you cannot interact with content.  It can also be used to request new content or to up-vote or down-vote new content requests. When you open an account on Mindplex, the system will generate one MPXR for you. This will allow you to start interacting and earn more MPXRs.

Reputation cannot be bought! To increase your MPXR, you have to do things that are actually appreciated by the community. However, if you do things for the sake of popularity, you might lose your reputation. Do your thing because it’s right, not because it’s popular!

MPXR is always locked on the Mindplex Reputation Escrow- you can not transfer it to your wallet, trade it, or delegate it. However, people will see how much of it you have from your profile page. In addition, your MPXR balance will be displayed next to your user name. 

While voting, you will see a temporary reduction. 

Let’s say you have 100 MPXR and there are 4 voting processes going on that day inside our content factory. (Voting on Content A, Voting on Content B, Voting on Content C, and Voting on Content D). Let’s also say, two of the voting processes attracted your attention and you decided to participate. Let’s say you use 20 MPXR as up-vote (20 yes votes) in vote A, and another 25 MPXR as down-vote (25 no votes) in vote B. Then your MPXR balance will be reduced to 55 for a short period of time. During this time, you cannot claim jobs (content creation jobs) that require a minimum of 56 MPXR balance and above. Relax, most voting periods last up to 48 hours and once the voting is completed, your MPXR will return to your escrow and your balance will start to display 100 again.

MPXR is used in governance voting as well. MPXR is used as a weight in such voting processes. As explained in the MPX section, our liquid token (MPX) is the one counted as a vote in governance, or it is MPX that can be delegated. How about some rich devil buying lots and lots of MPX and winning a vote? Hold on a minute: this is why MPXR is used as the weight of that vote. You can buy MPX or someone can delegate it; however, all that has little to no value if your vote’s weight is light– MPX not backed by your reputation! Long live MPXR!

The tokenomic system is designed to draw users to the platform to do these two jobs. 

(1) The job of Content Creators, which is to make good content

(2) The job of Content Consumers, which is to interact with the content and review it. These jobs create Mindplex’s tokenomics.

• The MPX token supply is limited.
• The MPX token demand correlates with the number of requests for content. So as the demand for content on the platform grows, the demand for MPX will grow.
• So as the demand for content on the platform increases, the MPX demand/supply ratio will also increase. 

If you publish content on Mindlex, monetizing that is easy. Just like any active user, every content has a reputation. If the content’s quality reputation reaches a certain level, the Content Creator will be rewarded.

Mindplex Content Factory is a matchmaking tool. What if you could ask someone to write an article or make a video documentary on one of your favorite subjects? Good for you, our Content Factory enables you to request that!

The Content factory facilitates four main processes: Content Request, Voting,  Job Claiming, and Content Submission for Publication.

Our Content Factory handles:

1. Users\' content request.
2. Legal review of the requested content: this is not censorship. We have to make sure the request is legal! You are not allowed to request something like “can someone write an in-depth article about how to get away with murder?” on the content description of your request. You are also not allowed to write the following: “How to kill your annoying boss and get away with it” in the suggested title section.
3. Voting: all free requests, if they get through the “legal review” stage, will come back to the community for voting. See “Voting in Content Factory” for more detail. 
4. Job registry: free requests that pass through the voting stage or paid requests will be registered and the community can access them via the Jobs page on our Content Factory.
5. Job claiming: qualified content creators who fulfill the specific requirements indicated in the respective request, can claim jobs so they can create the content and publish it. 
6. Content Submission and payment: content creators will submit the content to the Mindplex editors and to requesters to get published and compensated.
7. Review: again this is not censorship, but the editors will make sure everything is legal. However, here, if the request is paid, the review will also be done by the sponsor (the person who requested the content), and if it is not up to their standard, feedback will be sent, or the contract will be terminated. The content factory will only be accessible to users with an active account on Mindplex. And you need to connect your wallet to use the content factory (you can connect your wallet easily from your profile page).

Once your wallet is connected, you can access the Content Factory. You can request content, claim jobs, or participate in voting procedures.

The Content factory will allow you to request content. The content can be text (article), audio (podcast), or video (short video documentary etc), and image (meme, gif, cartoon, etc).

If you want the community to create content, you have two options: Paid Request and Free Request.

Most content on the planet is created free of charge, look at the largest social media platforms (You Tube, Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok), or the most known free online encyclopedias (Wikipedia, Scholarpedia, Conservapedia). They generate all this content because humans are storytellers. So you can rely on these beautiful story tellers and ask them to create content on the topics you prefer. We believe our community is full of storytellers as well!

If your request makes it through legal review, it will go to the voting stage. If the majority of the community loves it, you will win the voting stage, which means your request will pass to the job registry. From there, story tellers, experts, researchers, gurus (those who are qualified) will claim it.

You are not expected to pay the Content Creator, but if you want you can tip!

Among other parameters, you can set the following requirements on any free content request: 

• Deadline for submission
• Minimum MPXR required from content creators to claim the job.

Note: All content submitted through the free content request will be owned by Mindplex, so  you will not enjoy playing with Parameters related to licensing and copyrights.

Warning: requesting illegal content (such as  child pornography, name-calling, bullying, or hate speech) will result in a serious reputation reduction and an eventual account deletion. Please see our Constitution to understand the blurry and philosophically challenging line between freedom of speech and illegal content.

If you want well-researched content, we recommend that you use the paid-content request approach. Paid requests are content requests where our users back their content request via our utility token. (We are optimizing our Content Factory process and will update this page shortly to address any change. 

Once paid requests pass through legal review, they will go directly to the job registry, skipping the voting procedure. Every Paid Content Request will have a payment guarantee, as explained in the next paragraphs.

Among other parameters, you can set the following requirement, on any Paid Content Request: 

• Deadline for submission
• Minimum MPXR required from content creators to claim the job
• Tone (Formal, Academic, Business, Sponsored)
• Type (one time, series), 
• Licensing Type (Open Access, Copyright, Copyleft)
• Payment amount in USD or MPX 

There are two types of Paid Content requests: Single Submission and Multiple Submission.

SingleSubmission paid Content Request

The process in single submission is straightforward: you will make the content request, deposit the exact amount of MPX you are willing to pay, and then the job will go to our Job Registry and wait there to be claimed by  content creators. Once it is claimed, it will no longer be visible for other content creators. 

The default minimum payment to issue a single submission is 500 MPX, but you can raise the bar.

MultipleSubmission Paid Content Request

Instead of one content creator, you can request submission from different content creators. To avoid topic repetition, the maximum number of content creators that can work on one single contract is 5.

The default minimum MPX to issue multiple submissions is 1,800. Even though all content creators  are rewarded, Mindplex will publish only three contents. Don’t forget to raise the bar so you can attract more content creators. 

The default reward sharing is as follows: 55% for the best submission, 35% to be shared between 2nd and 3rd place submissions, and 10% between the bottom two. 

Once you receive the submissions, you can rank them. Furthermore, you can play with the percentage shares except for 1st place; the default split is 20% for 2nd place, 15% for the 3rd place, 6% for 4th place, and 4% for 5th place. We gave you room to play so you can change the parameters; second place reward can be set between 20% and 18%, 3rd place can be set between 17% and 15%, 4th place can be set between 8% and 6%, while 5th place can be set between 4% and 2%.

The default reward sharing for 4 submissions is as follows: 55% for the best submission, 40% to be shared between 2nd and 3rd place submissions, and 5% for 4th place. Furthermore, you can play with the percentage shares except for 1st place and 4th place; the default split between 2nd and 3rd place is 25% for 2nd place and 15% for the 3rd place. We gave you room to play so you can change the parameters; second place reward can be set between maximum 28% and minimum 21%, while 3rd place can be set between maximum 19% and minimum 12%.

The default reward sharing for 3 submissions is as follows: 55% for the best submission and 45% to be shared between 2nd and 3rd place submissions. Furthermore, you can play with the percentage shares except for 1st place; the default split between 2nd and 3rd place is 25% for 2nd place and 20% for the 3rd place. We gave you room to play so you can change the parameters; second place reward can be set between maximum 30% and minimum 25%, while 3rd place can be set between maximum 20% and minimum 15%.

The default reward sharing for 2 submissions is as follows: 55% for the best submission and 45% for 2nd place submission.

We do not live in a perfect world; disputes will happen. Let’s say your paid-requests process was not satisfactory and all the contents submitted are not up to your standard. You can appeal to the editorial team for refund (not to pay the promised MPX) and not to publish the content. The editorial team, before validating the appeal, will review the submission thoroughly. 

Before this, you have to follow the following step. 

• Ranking the submissions you accepted! 

You have to rank all the submissions you accepted before appealing to the editorial team (if you issued a multiple submission request involving 5 content creators, and if you rejected 4 submissions and accepted only 1, then that is ranked as 1st place and you have to rank it as that. If you rejected 3 submissions and accepted 2, then you have to rank these 2 submissions and identify which is your 1st place and which is your 2nd place. So on and so on). You are not expected to rank the submissions you rejected and you can leave those unranked. 

Note: Remember, you can also reject all submissions (if it is what you feel) and in this case you are not expected to rank the submissions. 

• Submit your appeal along with your ranking   

There are two types of findings (verdicts) after any such appeal. The editorial team will decide:

1. The content creator is just submitting to get paid and the content is fake, or
2. The content creator has really worked on the content, but the content somehow is not good. 

In cases where the verdict of the editorial team fits scenario number 1 (where the content creator is just trying to fool everyone), the payment will be canceled. Furthermore, the content creator will be punished and certain reputation tokens (MPXR) will be deducted.

In cases where the Verdict is scenario 2, where the attempt is genuine but the content is below the expected quality, here is where the Minimum and Maximum Guarantee comes in handy. Since we need to protect Content Creators who genuinely worked their very best but are not lucky,  we need to guarantee their payment. So if the editorial team decided (after evaluating your appeal and the submission), the agreed guarantee will be deducted. The default guarantee for single submission is 9% and the default guarantee for multiple submissions is 15%. While you can increase the guarantee, you cannot decrease it.

The default minimum guarantee amount for single submission is 7% while 15% minimum guarantee is a must for multiple submission. In order to attract content creators, we encourage you to raise the guarantee amount. 

The guarantee distribution in single submission is straightforward: the content creator will get 7% of the promised payment. 

The guarantee distribution for multiple submissions will depend on the success of the other competing content creators. Below are more examples to elaborate the process.   

Example One: when all submissions are rejected by you, and all the Verdict (of the editorial team) is scenario 2 (all content creators deserve the guarantee payment), the allocated guarantee will be splitted equally between the rejected content creators. 

Guarantee=15%(Total Payment)/Number of Content Creators

Example Two: when you have accepted some of the submissions and rejected the rest, and then the Verdict (of the editorial team) is mixed (out of the submissions you rejected, some submissions are in scenario (1) and some are in scenario (2), the guarantee is calculated as follows:

All accepted appeals (your rejections) will be automatically ranked as bottom places. (Let’s say in a request that involves 5 submissions, you ranked 1 of them as 1st place submission and appeal to the editorial team not to pay for the remaining 4 submissions. Then let’s say the editorial team evaluated the submissions and gave the verdict that out of the 4 submissions, 3 deserve the guaranteed payment and 1 doesn’t. In this case, you have one accepted appeal so the amount you have allocated for 5th place will be excluded from deduction as an unpayable bottom place reward.     

Guarantee= 15%(Remaining balance/Number of Content Creators)

Remaining Balance= Total payment-(Paid Payment + Bottom Unpaid Amount) 

Voting in the content factory is all about your choices. All free requests will run through a voting process. Users will vote using MPXR. You will not lose the MPXR, but it will temporarily be locked until the voting is closed. For a detailed explanation click here. 

Requests are batched before they go to voting stations. Batching period is 48 hours. Once batching has started all requests launched during 48 hours will be batched as one group. Then after 48 hours requests under that batch will pass to voting, voting will be open for another 48 hours. During voting time, new requests will start making the second batch.

Only the top 5 requests will pass to the job registry as winners. Highest net vote (upvotes minus downvotes) determine the winner.

You can participate in single or multiple votes. For example, say you have 53 MPXR and you want to vote on five content requests. You can divide your MPXR tokens between the five requests as you like, putting 20 tokens for Content Request 1 (because it’s most important to you), 15 tokens for request 2, 10 for request 3, and so on. These votes can be either upvotes or downvotes.
