How AI Predictions Can Narrow Our Sense of What's Possible

A new study reveals that when people believe AI can predict their behavior, they may change how they reason about choices—sometimes abandoning guaranteed rewards. The research, using a behavioral version of Newcomb's paradox with over 1,300 participants, found that perceived predictive authority from AI significantly shaped decision-making, even when predictions were wrong.
