Why Traditional Education Can’t Keep Up with AI. (Obviously!) The world is shifting faster than any school system can adapt. Artificial intelligence, blockchain, decentralized systems, cryptography — these are the infrastructures of the next era. But if you walk into a typical high school or university today, you’d think we were still preparing students for 1998. This is not an attack on education — it’s a wake-up call. Because while young people are being taught outdated frameworks, the real transformation is already happening outside the institution. ⸻ 1. Institutional Education Moves Too Slowly for Exponential Technology Educational systems are built on approval chains, bureaucracies, politics, and funding cycles. To introduce a new subject — say, machine learning or tokenomics — it has to be: • Reviewed by boards • Integrated into standardized assessments • Delivered by trained (often under-trained) teachers • Packaged into multi-year curriculums Meanwhile, AI models are improving weekly. New blockchain protocols emerge monthly. Entire tech stacks are evolving in real-time, and by the time universities catch up, the world has already moved on. ⸻ 2. Students Are Trained to Comply, Not to Adapt Most education still focuses on: • Memorization • Standardized testing • Linear career pathways • Rigid disciplines Yet AI doesn’t care about your memorized definitions. AI & Web3 Are Shifting Power Away from Institutions Young people need to understand that the gatekeepers are being removed. • In Web2, you needed a degree to get a job. • In Web3, you need a wallet and a GitHub repo. • In legacy media, you needed a publisher. • In decentralized platforms like Mindplex, you need a voice and value. • In old finance, you needed a bank. • In crypto, you just need a key. Education is no longer about what you’ve been given. It’s about what you can build. ⸻ 4. Real-World Learning Happens on the Edge — Not Inside the Comfort Zone For today’s young people, stepping into the new digital world isn’t just useful — it’s critical. That means: • Joining DAOs (decentralized autonomous organizations) • Participating in AI training or open-source projects • Building a digital identity that reflects your values • Learning how to use and understand cryptography, smart contracts, and decentralized storage These aren’t “optional extras” — they’re the foundations of the next economic and creative system. ⸻ 5. You Have the Tools — You Just Need the Mindset Most 17-year-olds already have the device they need. What they’re missing is the invitation and the awareness. YouTube, GitHub, Discord, Mirror, Lens, Mindplex, ChatGPT, Arweave, Solana, Ethereum — these are not just “platforms.” They’re living ecosystems where learning, earning, and building intersect. Start there. <p>Yea, I second all you just said. To expand the scope a little bit:</p><p>What comes to education and learning I'd start by cultivating curiosity, creativity and interdisciplinary thinking – build up dreams and inspiration. AI can indeed do increasingly lot of technical stuff and discover shared patterns across wildly different domains. Soon, twins can execute complex plans for you, connect people, build up teams, manage, take care of all bureaucracy and so on. Currently it seems human beings still dominate in true creativity and novelty leaps but it won't last forever. We people need to be signaling about values, preferences, dreams, lived experiences. We can always add some diversity to the mix, we can always make authentic contributions and bring the best of us to be a part of the future. The diversity of thought that any independent agent can provide even in the company of significantly more intelligent agents is of great importance. Each experience is different and there is always unique value in every independent viewpoint.</p><p>All these kinds of factors should drive the way we see our own self-development. I like to say that when everything is not about hyper-specialization anymore it is time for philosophers to see the sun again.</p><p>Finally, we are not limited to what we currently are. As long as we evolve our identities consistently by building on top of what we already are, we can augment, transform and transcend our cognitions in any imaginable ways. Instead of our material embodiment, it is our agentic identity that is to be taken care of. Growth with consistency (remembering the old versions of yourself) is another way to describe this individuation–self-transcendence dynamic. With this context, the constant meta-learning, tool integration, reflection enhancement and consciousness expansion could very well be seen as core components of future education as well.</p>
