At first, I thought, "Blimey, this has got to be the tardiest Christmas greeting ever!" I mean, it’s nine days past New Year, innit? Then I clocked it says ‘Ethiopian.’ Good ol’ Google sorted me out—turns out Ethiopia’s got its own calendar, and it’s flipping 2017 there! New Year lands on September 11, of all dates. Bit awkward, that. Can’t help but think if an Ethiopian in the States throws a bash for their New Year, the anti-terror lot might give ’em the side-eye. Proper dodgy, that.
