Lauren Kunze, chief executive of Pandorabots, views romantic AI companions "not simply as another form of media, but as a dependency-fostering product with known psychological risks." Writing on The New York Times (open copy), she recommends a "messy, complicated, human relationship" instead of an AI companion. "We made our choice not to pursue A.I. romance," she says. "The rest of the industry must now make theirs."

There is a huge psychological risk. I don't know how people fail to see that these so called emotional AIs are mass manufacturing "Artifical Intimacy". Intimacy if it is artificial and unreal always leads to deeply wounded hearts!
