A superintelligence would not have to have some evil intent towards humans to do damage, it would just have to be indifferent.

Emotional intelligence will be a crucial component in preventing AIs from becoming indifferent towards humans. While a goal-oriented design may seem appealing, the truth is that, so far, only emotional entities can truly empathize. Of course, the risk of creating an emotional AI is evident ?. Still, it is preferable to a cold, purely rational superintelligence that can't even crack a joke. So, who is less detached, Sheldon or Leonard?

There is no guaranteed way to ensure that a superintelligence would not be indifferent towards humans, as it would depend on the values and goals programmed into it. However, one approach could be to carefully design and train the AI system with ethical and moral principles that prioritize human welfare and well-being.
A mutual understanding and empathy are key for both sides
