<p>This is definitely the future. One always has to prioritize one's time which leads to suboptimal participation and a kind of holes in collectively important decisions.</p><p>Regarding the potential services for this, one could argue heavily about data security, protocol resiliency etc. which is crucially important, but at the end of the day it comes down to intelligent data storage with embedded proof structures and access controls. Different AI components are also customizable and vary according to specifics of the situation. There can't be a company acting as a custodian of any of these aspects. </p><p>This could be explored purely from the perspective of memory structure. As we humans utilize whatever memories we have access to, including all the augmented sources such as internet and friends, the digital agents are basically the same. In the ideal scenario, the experience would be something like just living one's life and producing different kinds of data. The system automatically creates records in memory in such a way that they are properly used by the twins with different counterparties in different situations. </p><p>There is often a hidden assumption that we are talking ideally fully synced digital copies of the human. Even when we talk about different digital personas of the same human being, applicable for different purposes, there is the aim of replicating the original human as closely as possible. However, we can very well imagine digital agents that are open-ended in the sense that they can gradually evolve in different directions. The original human is just the initial condition with an increasing level of freedom to grow. Yet another configuration is "shared digital human agents" that behave as two or more people would behave as a group. </p><p>When all of these different variations of digital human twins participate in all kind of decision-making, we people are inducing human values into new emerging intelligences and maintain a form of collective individuation. Many people talk of future life forms as so-called "mind children" of ours. In my view, globally accessible ways to digitize our human cognitions is an important way to create the future that is worth that term.</p><p>It is good that many groups are independently working on this topic. I'm also interested in seeing when, in addition to functional data such as behavioral track record, it is possible to start utilizing structural data such as brain maps. Some people have called these kinds of behavior based protocols alone as soft uploading of minds. </p>
