Saudi Arabia created a new company for artificial intelligence (AI), Financial Times reported (unpaywalled copy) before US President Donald Trump's visit to Saudi Arabia. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman leads this company, named Humain, which aims to make Saudi Arabia a top AI center globally. Humain belongs to the Public Investment Fund, which has $940 billion.
Top AI figures from the US, Elon Musk, Sam Altman, and Mark Zuckerberg joined Trump in Riyadh. They participated in a US-Saudi investment forum to secure big deals in AI, defense, and other areas. Humain will build AI tools and data centers. Building state-of-the-art AI needs special chips, lots of energy, and of course of money. Therefore, US tech companies want to work with Gulf countries, which have large funds to invest.
Massive AI tech funding from the Gulf
Trump secured $600 billion in promises from Saudi Arabia, Reuters reports. Nvidia agreed to sell many AI chips to Saudi Arabia, and will send 18,000 of its newest Blackwell chips to Humain. Another company, Advanced Micro Devices made a $10 billion deal with Humain. Qualcomm signed an agreement to build a data center CPU.
Saudi company DataVolt will spend $20 billion on AI data centers in the US. Google, DataVolt, Oracle, Salesforce, AMD, and Uber will invest $80 billion in new tech in both nations.
Nvidia and Humain plan to build AI factories with 500 megawatts of power. They will use hundreds of thousands of Nvidia’s best GPUs. AMD’s deal with Humain also includes 500 megawatts of AI hardware over five years. AMD will supply CPUs, GPUs, and software. This deal helps Humain create a modern AI cloud platform. Humain plans to start delivering this power in 2026.
“AI, like electricity and internet, is essential infrastructure for every nation,” said Jensen Huang in an NVIDIA press release. “Together with HUMAIN, we are building AI infrastructure for the people and companies of Saudi Arabia to realize the bold vision of the Kingdom.”
Amazon also announced a $5B investment to accelerate AI adoption in Saudi Arabia and globally.
